Roughnecks Look To Secure Western Division With Win Over Portland

April 9, 2009 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Calgary Roughnecks News Release

CALGARY, AB - The regular season is coming to a close for the Calgary Roughnecks, with only three games left on hand. The Roughnecks play host to the Portland Lumberjax Friday evening in what will be their last home game of the regular season. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the Pengrowth Saddledome.

This Good Friday game could guarantee the Riggers the Western Division title. All they need is one win or one Portland loss, therefore this Friday's game holds great potential for the Roughnecks.

Fans are encouraged to attend Friday's Easter themed game, with a chance to win prizes and goodies for adults and kids alike.

The Roughnecks are currently 5-2 at home, while Portland has a 3-3 record on the road. Portland's record of 7-6 holds no contention to the Riggers well deserved 10-3 record they have tallied to date.

Calgary has already clinched their first playoff game, and have secured home-field advantage which will be played the May 1st to 3rd weekend.

With a secured playoff spot, it is important the Roughnecks remain focused and keep their three-game winning streak alive moving into the playoffs.

After playing Portland, the Roughnecks head to Edmonton's Rexall Place to take on the Rush for a 7:30 p.m. game this Saturday.

Fans can catch all the action live on the NLL website.
