Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks today announced their 20-player active roster for the 2014 National Lacrosse League season. The roster includes five new players with 15 names returning from the 2013 season.
The returning players include 2013 NLL MVP Shawn Evans, who captured the league's scoring title with a career-high 112 points (32 goals, 80 assists) last season, captain Andrew McBride, assistant captain Mike Carnegie and transition player Geoff Snider, who finished the 2013 regular season with a league-leading 310 face-off wins.
Among the five new faces are four of Calgary's six 2013 NLL Entry Draft selections: transition players Tor Reinholdt (first round, sixth overall) and Karsen Leung (second round, 10th overall), defenceman Garrett McIntosh (third round, 24th overall) and goaltender Peter Dubenski (fourth round, 34th overall). Free-agent defenceman Cody Hawkins completes the active roster.

Defencemen Scott Carnegie and Barclay Hickey, transition player Jake Hayes, selected 43rd overall in the 2013 draft, and free-agent forward Brett Baron have been listed on the four-player practice roster. Forward Scott Ranger and transition players Travis Cornwall and Peter McFetridge have been placed on the physically unable to perform list.
The Roughnecks will open their 13th NLL season on the road when Calgary visits the Toronto Rock on Friday, Jan. 3, with a 5:30 p.m. MT face-off at Air Canada Centre. The Roughnecks return to the Scotiabank Saddledome for the 2014 home opener on Friday, Jan. 10 when they host the Colorado Mammoth at 7:00 p.m.
