Rochester Knighthawks News Release

The back-to-back National Lacrosse League Champion Rochester Knighthawks announced the team's 20-man active roster for the 2014 season.

The Knighthawks open their 20th season of professional lacrosse against the Minnesota Swarm on Saturday, December 28th at 7:30 p.m. ET at The Blue Cross Arena. The game will begin as the Knighthawks celebrate their 2013 Champion's Cup by raising the NLL Championship banner. Tickets are currently available by calling the Knighthawks' office at (585) 454-4295.

Eighteen of the 20 players on the active roster return from last year's championship squad. The two newest additions are defenseman Mac Allen and goaltender Mikey Thompson. As a restricted free agent, Allen was acquired when the Colorado Mammoth failed to match Rochester's offer sheet. He previously spent two seasons with the Knighthawks in 2009 and 2010. Thompson originally announced his retirement following his sixth season with the Buffalo Bandits in 2012. He signed with the Knighthawks last week and will return to NLL to backup the 2013 Goaltender of the Year, Matt Vinc.

The Knighthawks are returning team captain Sid Smith and assistant captains Cody Jamieson and Mike Kirk. Smith agreed to a seven-year contract in the offseason while Kirk inked a four-year deal. Jamieson, who has seven years remaining on his league record 10-year contract, became just the second player in league history to win consecutive Championship Game MVP Awards.

Wenster Green and the 27th overall pick from the 2013 NLL Entry Draft, Mark White, were signed to two of the team's four spots on the practice squad. Green was drafted by the Buffalo Bandits of out Six Nations in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft. White, a native of Brampton, Ontario, graduated from the University of Southern Maine as the Huskies' all-time leading point scorer.
