Toronto Rock News Release
Toronto, ON - Toronto Rock General Manager Terry Sanderson has announced the final roster moves that were made prior to today's 12:00pm league deadline to trim active rosters to 20 players.
Toronto has released forward Brenden Thenhaus, defenceman Mike Woods and goaltender Craig Wende. Signing practice player agreements are Mike Lum-Walker, Dustin Dunn, Jeff Swift and Eric Law.
There are only a pair of new faces on the active roster. 2013 first-round draft pick Ethan O'Connor and free agent camp invite Craig England will both look to bolster the Rock defensive group this season.
"The performance of every player in our camp made decisions very difficult," explained Rock Head Coach John Lovell. "From top to bottom, every player competed hard for a roster spot and they did what we asked them to do; make our decision making process a strenuous one."
Active Roster:
Forwards (6):
Kasey Beirnes, Garrett Billings, Colin Doyle, Rob Hellyer, Stephan Leblanc, Josh Sanderson
Defencemen (12):
Kyle Belton, Sandy Chapman, Craig England, Jesse Gamble, Damon Edwards, Bill Greer, Stephen Hoar, Scott Johnston, Rob Marshall, Patrick Merrill, Ethan O'Connor, Chris White
Goaltenders (2):
Zak Boychuk, Nick Rose
The Rock will play one final preseason tune-up on Saturday night at 7:00pm against the Philadelphia Wings at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville. Training camp will resume Tuesday night for the Rock.
