
Philadelphia Wings Come to Terms with Brodie Merrill, Kevin Crowley

The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) have agreed to terms with Captain Brodie Merrill to a two-year agreement and John Ranagan, Joel White, Michael Poppleton and Brian Megill to one-year agreements. The Wings have also come to terms with forward Kevin Crowley on a two-year agreement, pending league approval.
Captain Brodie Merrill returns for his third season with the Wings and ninth in the NLL. Last year he recorded 28 points (18 assists, 10 goals) and forced 123 loose balls while appearing in 15 games. Merrill is a five-time NLL All-Star and was twice honored as Transition Player of the Week in 2013.
Forward Kevin Crowley enters his third year with the Wings and the NLL. Last season, Crowley led the Wings in points and goals scored (72 points, 34 goals). He appeared in all 16 regular season games and one postseason game. Crowley was awarded player of the game honors in the 2013 season opener.
Transition player, Joel White, is back for his second season in Philadelphia. White appeared in all 17 games for the Wings in 2013. He scooped up 87 loose balls and had 13 points (11 assists, 2 goals). White was a three time All-American defender at Syracuse University.
John Ranagan will join the Wings for his inaugural season in the NLL. Ranagan graduated from Johns Hopkins University where he was a midfielder and two-time USILA All-American. Most recently, he spent the 2013 outdoor season with the Rochester Rattlers of the MLL.
Mike Poppleton makes his NLL debut in 2013 with the Wings. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, he was a USILA Second Team All-American and ranked second in the nation in faceoff winning percentage (.685). Poppleton spent the 2013 outdoor lacrosse season with the Hamilton Nationals of the MLL.
Brian Megill will begin his initial season in the NLL with the Wings. During the 2013 outdoor lacrosse season split time between the Denver Outlaws and Chesapeake Bayhawks of the MLL. He attended Syracuse University where he was a USILA Second Team All-American and a nominee for the Tewaaraton Award (national player of the year).
