October 19, 2005 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Calgary Roughnecks News Release
Calgary, AB - Forward Kevin Dostie and hard-nosed defender A.J. Smith were today signed to one-year deals by Calgary Roughnecks General Manager Kurt Silcott.
Both signings are subject to National Lacrosse League approval.
Dostie, 25, broke into the NLL in 2003 with the now defunct Ottawa Rebel, before moving to Calgary prior to the 2004 season.
That same year, he captured indoor lacrosse's top two awards, the Champion's Cup with the Roughnecks, and the Mann Cup while a member of the Peterborough Lakers.
In 30 NLL games, the 5 ft. 6 ins. Dostie has scored 29 goals and added 30 assists.
Smith, a stay-at-home type defender, played 26 times in the NLL with the Vancouver Ravens.
"He has the ability to push the guys we now have on defence," said Silcott, "with a good chance of earning a roster spot in 2006."
