Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, May 22, 2004 - On the eve of the opening of training camp, presented by Future Shop, rookies had an early practice, followed by the annual players' orientation meeting, which was attended by all training camp staff.

Short practice

Rookies practiced for just over an hour this morning under a cloudy sky.

Abram and MacNeill released

Training camp is over for defensive back DaShawn Abram and linebacker Kevin MacNeill; both rookies were released this morning.

Medicals

Veterans underwent their medicals this morning at the McGill University Sports Centre. All players who will be on the field tomorrow have passed.

Extremes

Offensive tackle Neal Fort still dominates the veterans' heavyweight category. He weighed in at a very respectable 327 lbs, which is almost twice Dontà Greene's 168 lbs. Rumour has it that Dontà was soaking wet... Among rookies, defensive back Teddy Gaines weighed in at 167 lbs while offensive lineman Robert Hicks outweighed Fort by seven pounds at 334.

At the official sizing, Fort (6'7'') also came out on top, tied with Brock Flemming and Hicks, while Deonce Whitaker won out as the smallest player at 5'6'' to Greene's 5'7''.
