MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced on Friday the hiring of Romuald Peiser (pronounced Ro-mu-ald Pé-zair) as the first team goalkeeper coach.
"Since Rémy's departure, we met many candidates and I think we found an interesting profile to help our goalkeepers progress," noted CF Montréal's sporting director Olivier Renard. "Romuald speaks many languages and has international experience, having playing here, in the United Stated and in Europe. We welcome him to the Club."
"I'm really proud and happy to join CF Montréal," said Romuald Peiser. "I'm looking forward to being with the team and to start working with the goalkeepers."
Born in Phalsbourg, France, Peiser was named goalkeeper coach of the Sacramento Republic FC (USL Championship) after retiring as a professional player.
The French goalkeeper played a total of 448 career games in 12 different clubs. He retired in 2018 after playing 26 USL Championship games with Penn FC, where he was also the goalkeeper coach. The year before, he won the Soccer Bowl with the San Francisco Deltas (NASL) in their only year of existence. He made his North American debut with the Ottawa Fury FC (NASL) in 2014, playing three seasons there. When he joined the Fury, he also became goalkeeper coach of the club's Academy goalkeepers. Developed at the Paris Saint-Germain youth system, he also played in France, Germany, Liechtenstein (with FC Vaduz in the Swiss league), in Romania and Portugal.
