Kamloops Blazers News Release

Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers selected forward Roman Makarov in the 2021 CHL Import Draft on Wednesday, June 30th.

Makarov played the 2020-21 season for CSKA Moskva U17 and U18 teams. In 28 games, he had 15 goals, 17 assists and 32 points.

"Roman has a lot of upside to his game," commented Director of Player Personnel, Robbie Sandland. "He covers the ice well and has a nice blend of power and offensive touch around the net. With his size and ability, he is tough to contain below the circles in the offensive zone," said Sandland.

The 6'5" and 214lb left shot forward is from Engels, Russia. He is eligible for the 2022 NHL Draft.

Makarov, who turned 17 on January 29th, joins 20-year-old import defenseman Viktor Persson as the Blazers two import players for the 2021-22 WHL season.
