
Winterhawks Select Defenseman Marek Alscher in CHL Import Draft

Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks, proud member club of the Western Hockey League, are proud to announce the selection of defenseman Marek Alscher in today's CHL Import Draft.
Chosen with the 26th overall selection, Alscher played last season with Pelicans Lahti U18 of the U18 SM-sarja in Finland, totaling 3 goals and 11 assists for a total of 14 points in 27 games.
Marek stands at 6'2" and weighs 192 lbs.
The native of Kladno, Czech Republic now joins an illustrious list of players selected by Portland in the Import Draft, including current National Hockey League stars, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Nino Niederreiter and Henri Jokiharju.

The Portland Winterhawks begin their 46th season of play on October 1 and will host Seattle on October 2 for the team's home opener.
