NO UFOs SPOTTED

But there was lots of idle time and plenty of wide-open Eastern New Mexico sky to search for flying saucers when the Rage's bus broke down around 2:30 a.m. early Saturday morning about 30 miles east of Roswell, N.M., en route from Albuquerque to Odessa. Surrounded by nothing but oil wells, sage brush, and plenty of annoying little stickers that pricked just about everyone, the players made the best of the situation by drying out their wet gear along the side of the two-lane highway and even on a make-shift, barbed-wire clothes line. The team was finally rescued at 11:30 a.m. and didn't arrive in Odessa until 4 p.m. following a healthy pre-game meal of either McDonald's or Dairy Queen in tiny Seminole, Texas.

NEW MEXICO FIRST

Not only was Friday's win against the Scorpions Rocky Mountain's first road win of the year, it was also the franchise's first-ever triumph on New Mexico's home ice. Heading into the game, the Rage had gone 0-6-0 at the Santa Ana Star Center over their first two seasons.

CENTURY CLUB

Last week Brent Cullaton surpassed former teammate Trevor Weisgerber as the Rage's all-time leading scorer, and this week Cullaton became the first player to reach 100 points in a Rocky Mountain sweater. With three assists against the Scorpions, the 13th-year pro landed right on the milestone with 21 goals and 79 assists in 66 games for the club. Cullaton then added two more helpers on Saturday at Odessa to give him 10 assists on the season, tying him with Colt King (2g-8a) and Daymen Rycroft (5g-5a) for the team scoring lead.

DRAWING FIRST BLOOD

After scoring the game's first goal just twice in their first eight games on their way to a 1-7-0 start this season, the Rage have now drawn first blood in three straight games, earning points in all three with two wins and a shootout loss.

DAVIS PAYS DIVIDENDS

CHL All-Star Aaron Davis, who was acquired from the Texas Brahmas on Nov. 7 in exchange for future considerations, has fit in nicely with his two new linemates, Brent Cullaton and Daymen Rycroft. The trio generated a total of 10 points (3g-7a) this past weekend with Davis lighting the lamp in both games. The centerman now has four points (2g-2a) in four games played with the Rage.
