Brockton Rox News Release
BROCKTON - The Brockton Rox got seven strong innings out of spot-starter Jon Koch and used two home runs to beat the Can-Am Grays, 5-2, Saturday night at Campanelli Stadium.
Brockton right-hander, Jon Koch, scattered 11 hits over seven innings and allowed just two runs in his first start for the Rox. Only one of the runs were earned as he didn't walk a batter and struck out two.
The Rox (17-18) jumped on Grays' starter Roberto Nieves for four runs in the first inning. The big blow was a three-run homer by Guye Senjem - his second in the series and his seventh round tripper of the season.
Brockton added a fifth run in the third inning on a solo home run by Craig Lewis. It was his second homer of the series and fifth for the season.
The Grays (17-17) ran into three outs on the bases and stranded four runners in scoring position in the first five innings. They finally broke through on Koch when Francisco Lebron doubled home a run in the fourth inning. The Grays other run came on a solo home run by Willie King in the sixth.
Brockton has beaten the Grays in all six contests this season.
The Rox and Grays will play the third game of the series on Sunday at Campanelli Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
