Wilmington Blue Rocks News Release

Winston-Salem, NC --- The Wilmington Blue Rocks (28-35) plated a season-high 11 runs in an 11-4 win over the Winston-Salem Warthogs (34-28) at Ernie Shore Field on Saturday night. The Rocks banged out 14 hits and used four Winston-Salem errors to break a four-game losing streak.

Neither team had a man reach base until Wilmington pounded out five runs on four hits in the third inning. Four RBI singles and a wild pitch brought the runs in for the Rocks. Iggy Suarez, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jeff Natale and John Otness did the damage in the frame.

Wilmington added an insurance run in the fourth on an RBI sacrifice fly by Jed Lowrie for a 6-0 advantage.

The Blue Rocks led 7-4 with closer Mike James warming up in the ninth when the offensive parade again marched on the field. A three-run triple by Mickey Hall, his league-leading seventh of the season, highlighted a four-run frame as Wilmington ballooned its lead to seven, 11-4.

Starter Gary Galvez (3-2) went five-plus innings for his third win of the season. Galvez allowed four runs on six hits and no walks while striking out one. Jack Egbert (5-4) took the loss, allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks in two-plus innings.

Wilmington southpaw Tommy Hottovy (4-5, 3.39) throws against right-handed spot starter Michael Moat (2-2, 2.30) in the series finale on Sunday evening. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
