New York Boulders News Release

(Ramapo, NY) - The Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am League announced today that they have signed infielder Melvin Falu and released infielder Matt Nandin. The moves were made in advance of today's game against the New Jersey Jackals in Little Falls, NJ, and Falu was in uniform and available, though he did not play.

Falu, a native of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, is no stranger to the Can-Am League, having spent all or part of the past five seasons with the Brockton Rox, though he has not seen action in the circuit to date this season. In 792 games over 10 minor league seasons, he has a career .304 batting average with 67 homers and 431 RBI. In 2010 with Brockton he registered career highs with 20 homers and 66 RBI to go with a .314 batting average in 90 games, and in 92 appearances last season he hit .283 with nine homers and 43 runs batted in.

Nandin appeared in all 49 Rockland games this season before today's game, batting .277 with four home runs and 22 RBI.

The Boulders will remain in New Jersey for the next three games before returning home to complete the five-game series with a game on Sunday, July 15.
