Newark 3, Quebec 0
Bears' starter Mike Ness could not be touched this afternoon. The right-hander from Chatham, NJ no-hit Quebec in a 3-0 win in Newark. Ness struck out eight and walked one, but also worked around six Bears errors in the performance. Ness' no-hitter was the first Can-Am League no-hitter since Quebec's Orlando Trias threw one in 2008. 1B Eric McGee homered for the Bears and Ness pushed his record to 6-2.
Rockland 9, New Jersey 3
Helped out by three strong offensive innings in the middle of the game, the Rockland Boulders beat the New Jersey Jackals 9-3 in New Jersey. After CF Chris Valencia tied the score at 2-2 in the third, Rockland took its first lead of the game. A sac fly, an error and a double led to three more third-inning runs and the Boulders were not done. A balk and another error plated two in the fifth, then a Keith Brachold double gave Rockland a pair in the sixth. Brachold had three RBI in the game and was one of six Boulders to contribute multiple hits. RHP Pat Moran earned the win and improved to 4-2.
