Rockford Recalls Carruth, Mattson

Rockford, Ill. - The American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs have recalled goaltender Mac Carruth and defenseman Nick Mattson from the ECHL's Indy Fuel.
Carruth, 23, has played in one game for Rockford this season, allowing three goals in a 45-minute relief appearance of Michael Leighton in a 7-0 loss to the Stockton Heat on Oct. 10.
The netminder has gone 9-5-2 with Indy this season, posting a 2.46 goals against average and .919 save percentage.
Carruth started three regular season games for the IceHogs in 2014-15, posting a 2-1-0 record including his first career AHL shutout on Nov. 23 against the Chicago Wolves. The goaltender showed a 1.69 goals against average and .925 save percentage in his three appearances for Rockford.
The Jackson, Wyo. native primarily spent the 2014-15 campaign between the pipes for the IceHogs ECHL affiliate, Indy Fuel. Carruth racked up a 17-13-7 record with a 2.55 goals against average and .914 save percentage with Indy.
Carruth was drafted by the Blackhawks in the seventh round (#191 overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Mattson made his AHL debut with the IceHogs on October 30 against Iowa, and has played in two games for Rockford. The blueliner from Chanhassen, Minnesota has earned six assists and a +5 rating in 29 games with Indy.
At the University of North Dakota, Mattson was part of teams that advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four in both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. He played in 153 games for North Dakota, scoring 17 goals in addition to 61 assists. The defenseman was drafted in the sixth Round (#180 overall) by Chicago in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
In 2008-09, Mattson won a gold medal for the United States at the IIHF World U18 Championships. Mattson also played two seasons (2009-11) for the Indiana Ice, where he was named the USHL Defenseman of the Year while leading all defensemen with a +33 rating in 2010-11.
Next Home Game: Wednesday, Dec. 30 vs. Chicago Wolves at 7 p.m. The first 1,000 kids (14-and-under) to the game with receive a free youth jersey courtesy of OrthoIllinois. The Illinois Lottery Cup contest is also another "Winning Weekday." If the IceHogs win, every fan in attendance will receive a free ticket to the next weekday game.
