The Kelowna Rockets came back from a two-goal deficit to force a twelve round shootout that saw the Kamloops Blazers win 4-3 on a goal the 24th shooter on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, BC.
It was a speciality teams affair, with five of the six goals scored in the game coming on the power play.
Kamloops held a two-goal lead after twenty minutes of play, but the Rockets responded with a power play goal from Andrew Cristall in the second period. Daylan Kuefler netted his third of the game in the third, but the Rockets charged back with goals from Colton Dach and Adam Kydd.
The game went to a shootout, where Drew Englot won the game in the 12th round.
Kamloops jumped out to a two-goal lead in the opening period with back-to-back power play goals from Daylan Kuefler (30, 31).
Andrew Cristall (21) jumped on a power play rebound to pull the Rockets within one with the only goal of the second period.
Daylan Kuefler (32) completed the hat trick on the power play just before the midway point of the final frame. Colton Dach (19) once again made it a one-goal game with a power play goal. Under a minute later, Adam Kydd (13) tied the game.
Talyn Boyko stopped 30 of the 33 shots he faced through 65 minutes of action, he only allowed three goals on twelve shooters in the shootout.
Kelowna outshot the Blazers 38-33.
The Rockets were two-for-seven on the power play, while the Blazers were three-for-eight.
The two won't have to wait long to see one another again, the Rockets will host the Blazers at 7:05 on Friday, March 18th.
