Green Bay Rockers News Release
Ashwaubenon, Wis. - The Green Bay Rockers took down the Lakeshore Chinooks in walk-off style Wednesday night, winning 7-6 at Capital Credit Union Park.
Led by a two-run walk-off home run from Tristin Garcia, the Rockers earned their eighth win of the season, after they trailed 6-2 through the first half of the game.
The Chinooks fall to 11-13 on the season through their first 24 games played.
Justin Loer started off strong on the mound as he retired the first three Chinooks batters he faced, keeping the game scoreless after the first inning.
Loer stranded the bases loaded in the second, after striking out the side to keep Lakeshore off the board in the second as the score remained 0-0 going into the third inning.
The Chinooks struck first in the top of the third off two home runs clearing the right field wall, taking a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the third.
Green Bay responded however with two runs of their own on an RBI single from Griffin Stevens and an RBI double from Collier Cranford as the Rockers only trailed 3-2 after three innings of play.
Loer struck out the side in the fourth, pitching his second 1-2-3 inning of the ballgame as the Rockers still trailed by just one heading into the fifth, after the Rockers went scoreless in the bottom of the fourth.
Lakeshore extended the lead off a three-run home run to center field, as the Chinooks took their largest lead of the night going into the bottom of the fifth.
The Rockers came back with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, scoring on an error and an RBI groundout, trailing just 6-4 after five innings.
Following a scoreless inning of relief from Bryce Crabb, the Rockers made it a one-run game off an RBI groundout from Carson Yates, as Green Bay made it a 6-5 game through six innings of play.
Crabb pitched a scoreless seventh inning, keeping it a 6-5 ballgame heading into the eighth, as the Rockers looked to tie the game for the first time since the second.
Following a scoreless eighth and top of the ninth inning, that set the stage for Garcia, who walked off the game on a two-run home run, giving the Rockers the victory at home, and tying the season series with the Chinooks at three games apiece.
Next up for Green Bay is a home matchup with the Wausau Woodchucks on Thursday. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. from Capital Credit Union Park, with the pregame concert performed by the New Piano Guys starting at 5:35 p.m. It will also be Thirsty Thursday at the ballpark, with there being half price domestic taps through the fifth inning.
