Northwoods La Crosse Loggers

La Crosse Eases Past Duluth; Wins, 15-2

June 22, 2022 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
La Crosse Loggers News Release

The Lumberman responded to a snapped winning streak by defeating the Huskies handily last night, due to an abundance of offensive and solid pitching.

Brayden Sanders (Northwest Mississippi CC) toed the slab for La Crosse, pitching in his fifth outing. The "Bulldog" tallied 5.0 scoreless innings on 6 hits and 5 strikeouts. The Mississippi native was able to work himself out of difficulty, including a bases-loaded jam in the 4th inning. With the help of tremendous run-support, Sanders earned his second win of the early season.

Runs for Duluth were few and far between, coming in the 3rd and 7th innings. Eduardo Rosario (Nebraska-Omaha), was the only Huskie to record multiple hits, going 2-3, and Ambren Voitik (Austin Peay) produced his team's only RBI.

La Crosse's high-octane offense continued to persist, totaling 15 runs on 13 hits. With last night's performance, the Loggers established themselves as the Northwoods League leader in runs scored with 170.

For the game, Landon Wallace (Nevada) and Jack Haley (Cal State Fullerton) each posted 3 hits. Luke Leto (LSU) led the team with 4 RBIs, 3 of which came from a 374ft homer in the 4th frame. Carson Hornung (South Carolina) also went 2-4 with a double and 2 runs driven in.

Both teams return for another matchup tonight at Copeland Park, where it will be "Baseball Card Strip Giveaway" presented by Western Technical College. The first pitch is set for 6:35pm CT at the Lumberyard.
