ALBANY RIVER RATS

The ALBANY RIVER RATS are currently 5th in the East Division with 46 points and have a 12-38-12-10 record... The River Rats are 0-7-3 in their past ten games and are currently on a 19 game-winless streak, most recently they lost to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers by a score of 1-0 on Sunday... Albany is ranked 26th in the AHL while on the powerplay with a 12.8% success rate and are ranked 26th when killing penalties at 79.9%... Albany only has a 9-21-6 record at home this season... The Albany River Rats stole two points from the ailing Maple Leafs last week with a 3-3 tie last Tuesday and by the same score the following night. The River Rats were trailing in both games... Center Steve Guolla has 11 points (4G,7A) in his last 10 games... The River Rats goaltenders were the difference in the two game set last week at Mile One Stadium. River Rats goaltending stopped 84 of 90 shots they faced... Albany's last victory was back on February 16th, over a month ago, when they defeated the Portland Pirates 4-2 in Albany.

The QUEBEC CITADELLES lead the Canadian Division with 85 points and have a 34-22-14-2 record, nine points ahead of the fourth place Maple Leafs... The Citadelles are 5-3-2 in their past ten games and are undefeated in their last three games (2-0-1)... Quebec is 18-9-9 at home this season... The Citadelles are ranked 14th in the AHL while on the powerplay with a 16.9% success rate and are ranked 18th when killing penalties at 82.0%... These two teams played last Friday and recorded their fourth tie against each other this season, a 3-3 draw in front of over 15,000 fans. The Citadelles lead the season series with the only victory in five matchups... Center Eric Landry leads the Citadelles attack against the Maple Leafs with six points (2G,4A) in five games. Meanwhile Leafs forward Donald MacLean has 7 points (2G,5A) in five games against Quebec... The Pirates are 4-6-0 in their past ten games and are winless in their last four games (0-4-0), most recently losing to the Hershey Bears 5-1... Portland is ranked 19th in the AHL while on the powerplay with a 16.3% success rate and are ranked 23rd overall in the AHL while killing penalties at 81.3%... The Portland Pirates are 18-15-3 at home this season... The last time these two team met was back on January 26th when Luca Cereda tallied the game-winner in a 5-2 battle... THE WEEK THAT WAS
The St. John's Maple Leafs have nominated forward Donald MacLean for the Sherwood/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 24. Last week, MacLean scored one goal and added five assists in five games for the Maple Leafs. MacLean was a plus four (+4), had 18 shots on net and received two third star honors.
MacLean's weekly highlights included a two assist effort in the Maple Leafs 3-3 tie against the Albany River Rats last Tuesday at Mile One Stadium. On Friday, MacLean was involved in all three goals as the Maple Leafs played to their third draw in as many games, a 3-3 tie against the Quebec Citadelles. MacLean was selected the game's third star. On Sunday, MacLean scored the Maple Leafs lone goal in a 2-1 loss to their rivals the Hamilton Bulldogs. MacLean received third star honors.
MacLean was selected the Sherwood AHL Player Of the Week in November. MacLean is having his best professional season to date, he is tied for second in the AHL scoring race with 76 points (28G,48A) in 68 games. MacLean was originally drafted with L.A.'s 2nd choice, 33rd overall in the 1995 Entry Draft. MacLean became a Maple Leaf in February of 2000.
MINI'S MUNCHKINS
Maple Leafs goaltender Mike Minard has relaunched his Mini's Munchkins program aimed at raising funds for the Janeway Hospital, while providing children an opportunity to watch Leafs' Hockey. Minard has purchase 4 tickets for each game and will donate $10 for each Leaf goal scored at home and $50 for each shutout at home. Minard has challenged the community to join his program.
