Thrashers Recall Three

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled Chicago Wolves right wing Brad Tapper; center Yuri Butsayev (YOO-ree buht-SIGH-ehv); and defenseman Francis Lessard.

Tapper currently ranks third on the Wolves with 14 goals and is tied for fourth on the team with 26 points in 50 games. The 23-year-old forward has also tallied two goals; four assists; six points; and 39 penalty minutes in 18 games with Atlanta this season.

Butsayev, who was acquired by Atlanta this month from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for defenseman Jiri Slegr (YEE-ree SLAY-guhr), has registered one goal and one assist in three games after being assigned to the Wolves on March 19. The 23-year-old forward, who has appeared in three games with the Red Wings this year, has also posted 21 goals and 44 points in 66 games with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. The 49th overall pick in the 1997 National Hockey League Entry Draft has played 75 games during the past three seasons (1999-2002) with Detroit, scoring six goals and 10 points.

Lessard, who was acquired this month from the Philadelphia Flyers in a trade for defenseman David Harlock, has posted two goals; three points; and 34 penalty minutes in five games after being assigned to the Wolves on March 16. Overall this season, Lessard has registered two goals, seven assists and 285 penalty minutes, including 251 penalty minutes and six assists in 60 games with the Philadelphia Phantoms.

Atlanta has recalled eight Wolves players in the last 18 days, including defenseman Brian Pothier (March 9); right wing J.P. Vigier (March 13); center Dan Snyder (March 15); goaltender Frederic Cassivi (March 20); and center Kamil Piros (March 20).
