The Calgary Roughnecks four-game winning streak was derailed by a Rock on Friday night as the Toronto Rock defeated the Roughnecks 15-6 in front of over 16,000 at Toronto's Air Canada Centre.
The loss drops the Roughnecks to 6-4 on the season while Toronto moves to 9-3 and takes control of first place in the Northern Division moving two full games ahead of the Roughnecks.
"Bottom line, we were out played tonight from beginning to end in all facets of the game," said Roughnecks coach, Chris Hall.
By scoring just six goals, the Roughnecks set a franchise low mark for goals scored in a game eclipsing the mark set in a 12-7 loss to Albany last season.
Toronto's leading point getter, Colin Doyle was the story for the Rock again tonight, scoring five goals and adding two assists in the one sided Toronto victory.
Goaltender Anthony Cosmo was strong in the Toronto nets turning away 46 Roughnecks shots while holding the âRiggers to under 10 goals for just the second time this season.
Matt King made his second appearance for the Roughnecks, replacing Curtis Palidwor midway through the fourth quarter. Palidwor allowed 11 goals while making 32 saves, while King allowed four goals while turning away five Toronto shots.
Tracey Kelusky and Lewis Ratcliff each scored a pair and added an assist for the Roughnecks in the loss.
"We've got to take a lesson from tonight, learn from it and move on, losing tonight makes Sunday's game a big one," said Kelusky.
The Roughnecks now head home for a Sunday matinee against the New York Saints, 1:30pm at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
