Wings Acquire Forward Hugh Donovan From Colorado Mammoth

February 28, 2003 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release

The Philadelphia Wings today acquired five-year veteran defenseman Hugh Donovan from the Colorado Mammoth in exchange for six-year defenseman Dave Stilley. The 6'5", 225-pound Donovan will join the team this Saturday, but is not expected to play as they face the Columbus Landsharks at the First Union Center at 8 p.m.

Stilley, the Wings captain during the 2002 season, has been a holdout from the Wings roster this season due to work commitments. The six-year veteran made the decision to return to the National Lacrosse League last week.

"This move provides Dave with immediate playing time in his return to the NLL," said Wings General Manager Marty O'Neill. "We feel that the acquisition of Hugh Donovan will give our team the same intensity and depth that Dave provided us last season."

Donovan, who is in his fifth National Lacrosse League season, has recorded two assists and 40 penalty minutes for the Mammoth in nine games this season. He has amassed 16 points (2G, 14A) and 132 penalty minutes in his four previous seasons spent with the Washington Power, Pittsburgh CrosseFire, and Baltimore Thunder.

The Wings (3-5) will look to overtake first place in the Eastern Division with a win over the Landsharks (6-4) this Saturday. The division leading Colorado Mammoth, who hold a half game lead over the Wings, host the Vancouver Ravens on Friday night. The Wings are entering the second half of the regular season this weekend, with four home and four road games remaining.

Game tickets, which include free admission to the Broad Street Bash, start as low as $18 ($20 day of game). Individual game tickets for Wings indoor lacrosse are $18, $23, and $27 in advance ($20, $25, and $29 on game day) and are available at the First Union Center box office and all Ticketmaster locations. March Madness packages for the Wings "Final Four" remaining regular season home games start as low as $60 and are available by calling 215-389-WINGS. Get your tickets now before they fly away!

The Philadelphia Wings are owned and operated by Philadelphia Wings L.P., whose principal owners are Russ Cline and Michael French. Comcast-Spectacor serves as the marketing, promotional, advertising, sponsorship and publicity arm of the Wings.
