New Britain Rock Cats News Release
June 19, 2007, New Britain, CT - New Hampshire's Ryan Klosterman hit a go-ahead RBI double and Manuel Mayorson added a two-run single in the eighth inning as the Fisher Cats survived another late-innings rally by the Rock Cats to escape with a 7-6 win at New Britain Stadium.
The Fisher Cats jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Sergio Santos' RBI double in the first inning. In the bottom of the inning, though, the Rock Cats banged out four hits. Rashad Eldridge led off with a single, but was thrown out at second on Trevor Plouffe's ground out. Brian Buscher (3-for-4, 2 R) followed with a single and Matthew Allegra was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Garrett Guzman (2-for-4, 3 RBI) knocked in two runs with a single to center field. Luke Hughes added an RBI single to left field for a 3-1 lead.
New Hampshire's Ryan Patterson had an RBI double in the second inning. The Rock Cats matched them in the bottom of the inning. Felix Molina and Kyle Geiger delivered back-to-back singles and both runners moved up on Eldridge's sacrifice bunt. Buscher hit a sharp grounder that was deflected by first baseman Chip Cannon that scored Molina from third. Geiger attempted to score also, but was thrown out at home for the final out of the inning.
Santos hit a solo home run in the third inning to close the gap, 4-3. Cannon led off the fourth inning with a solo shot to tie the game, 4-4.
Kurt Isenberg (2-3) allowed four runs on eight hits in seven innings. He struck out four and walked none. Jesse Carlson, a Berlin native who attended UConn, notched his first save of the season.
Rock Cats' starter Jesse Floyd lasted 5 2/3 innings, surrendering four runs on seven hits - including two homers - and two walks. He struck out three. J.P. Martinez (0-3) allowed three runs on two hits and three walks in two innings of relief to suffer the loss.
