BASEBALL REIGNS: The Rochester Red Wings tonight continue their 8-game roadtrip with the 2nd and 3rd games of a 4-game series at Durham (Rays) following yesterday's rainout. The Red Wings started the trip by taking 3 of 4 at Norfolk (Orioles) and losing Friday's series opener 7-4. Rochester returns to Frontier Field on Tuesday for a brief 4-game homestand against International League North Division rival Syracuse (Nationals). Then it's back on the road for a pair of 4-game series at Columbus (Indians) and Toledo (Tigers).

ROSTER NEWS: The Minnesota Twins yesterday recalled first basement Chris Parmelee from Triple-A Rochester. He takes the 25-man roster spot of Justin Morneau, who was placed on the Paternity List. This is Parmelee's 3rd stint with the Twins, including his stay after making the Opening Day roster.

CAN'T LIE ABOUT JULY: The Red Wings are a league-best 13-5 in July. The Top 5 teams during the month:

a The Red Wings' 3-game winning streak came to an end Friday at Durham, losing for just the 2nd time in 9 games since the All-Star Break. Rochester tonight looks to avoid losing back-to-back games for the first time since losing its last 3 games of June.

a The Wings have still won 8 of their last 11 and 11 of their last 14.

a The Red Wings are 5.0 games out of the IL Wild Card spot and 5.5 games out of first place in the North Division.

HEADS ABOVE WATER: The Red Wings tonight enter play at or above the .500 mark for the 3rd game in a row since pulling to 49-49 Wednesday at Norfolk.

a Since sitting a season-worst 10 games below .500 at 20-30 on May 28, the Red Wings are 30-20.

a Going back further, Rochester is 36-27 beginning May 15. The Wings are also 41-34 beginning May 3, playing better than .500 baseball for more than half the season.

The switch-hitter has also hit safely in 12 of his last 13 contests, batting .333 (18-for-54). He collected a season-high 3 hits for the 4th time Friday at Durham.

HALL PASS: Red Wings alum and FOX broadcaster Tim McCarver yesterday was honored at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, as the 2012 recipient of the Ford C. Frick Award for excellence in baseball broadcasting.

a McCarver joins a group of illustrious Red Wings alumni to have a place in the Hall, joining Bob Gibson, Johnny Mize, Eddie Murray, Stan Musial, Jim Palmer (rehab), Cal Ripken Jr., Red Schoendienst, and managers Frank Robinson and Earl Weaver.

a McCarver is one of 4 current major league broadcasters with Red Wings' ties, joining Eric Collins (Dodgers), Glenn Geffner (Marlins), and Josh Lewin (Mets).

THIS DATE IN BASEBALL HISTORY: Speaking of Red Schoendienst, in 1989, he, Johnny Bench, Carl Yastrzemski, and umpire Al Barlick were inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
