Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds turned to recently acquired Kramer Robertson to take the opener of a six-game series from the Indianapolis Indians at AutoZone Park on Tuesday night by the final score of 5-1.
In his first game back with Memphis after stops in the Braves and Mets organizations, second baseman Kramer Robertson reached base five times, including a 3-for-3 effort with a home run, double and two RBIs. In his first official at-bat in the fourth and after being hit by a pitch in his first two plate appearances, Robertson hit a two-run blast to bring home third baseman Delvin Perez.
On Tuesday night, seven Redbirds recorded hits, including a two-hit, two-RBI night from Perez. First baseman Luken Baker stayed hot, reaching base twice with a walk and a single. In his first appearance in his MLB Rehab Assignment, designated hitter Juan Yepez reached twice with a base hit and a hit by pitch.
On the mound, starting pitcher Tommy Parsons put together his best start of the season. The right-handed pitcher tossed 6.0 shutout innings and allowed two hits, both coming in the sixth inning. Relievers Kodi Whitley and JoJo Romero each tossed shutout innings to close out the win.
The Memphis Redbirds (56-49) return home to AutoZone Park on Wednesday, August 10th to take on the Indianapolis Indians, (51-53) Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, for game two of a six-game series with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT.
