
Roberts Baffles Roadrunners

AMARILLO, TEXAS ---- Ralph Roberts (3-1) allowed one run while scattering six hits in six and two-third innings to help the Amarillo Dillas defeat the Edinburg Roadrunners 8-1 Thursday night at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.
Aaron Guerra picked up his third loss of the season after he allowed four runs while scattering nine hits in five innings of work.
The Dillas (19-16) got on the board in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI single by Terrance McClain that allowed Andrew Wong to score from second for a 1-0 Amarillo lead.
The Roadrunners (17-18) answered back with their only run of the game in the top of the fourth that came on an RBI double by Bryon Smith that tied the game at one.
An error kept the bottom of the fifth inning alive for Amarillo and then Carlos Figueroa followed with a two-run home run that gave the Dillas a 3-1 advantage.
Amarillo extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth with a sacrifice fly to left field by Keanon Simon that allowed Stantrel Smith to touch home plate and make it a 4-1 game.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Trent Lockwood drove in McClain from second with an RBI single that made the score 5-1 in favor of the Dillas.
Amarillo scored three more runs in the bottom of the eighth on a three-run double by Lockwood that made the score 8-1.
The Roadrunners and Dillas will play the final game of this four-game series on Friday night at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa. Pedro Flores (1-2) is expected to face Taylor Allen (2-2) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
