Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced Wednesday that forward Robbie Smith has agreed to terms with the team for the 2013-14 season.

Smith, 26, first joined the Wranglers on an amateur try-out agreement at the end of the 2010-11 season, recording a goal and an assist in four games. The 6-foot-3, 192-pound forward returned in 2011-12, posting seven goals and eight assists on the way to the 2012 Kelly Cup Finals, where he tacked on another assist in 14 playoff games. The Brooks, Alberta native picked up three goals and two assists in 25 games as a late-season addition to the Wranglers roster in 2012-13.

"We're very happy to welcome back Robbie Smith, a big power forward who has the ability to play in all situations," said Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Mike Madill. "He understands how each game needs to be played and what he can do to help his team gain momentum. Robbie is another guy who leads by example on and off the ice, and treats everyone around him with respect at all times. I'm thrilled to have him as a part of this team and this community."

Before turning pro, Smith spent five years (2006-11) at Dartmouth, accruing nine goals and ten assists in 94 games with the Big Green.

"The decision to come back to the Wranglers was an easy one," said Smith. "We are shaping up to be a very hard team to play against. Mike [Madill] was an excellent captain, and is a natural leader, so I'm excited to play for him in his first season as coach."

The Wranglers open their eleventh season of hockey in Las Vegas on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7:05 p.m. against the Utah Grizzlies. For the entire Wranglers schedule, please click here for a one-page PDF .
