IceMen Agree to Terms with Defenseman Jacob Johnston for 2013-14

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The Evansville IceMen have agreed to terms with defenseman Jacob Johnston for the 2013- 14 season.

Johnston, 25, is the eighth defenseman on Evansville's training camp roster. The IceMen now have 19 players (nine forwards, eight defensemen, two goalies) on the roster for 2013-14, as players report for training camp in just over two weeks.

"I had a few conversations with Coach Pyle earlier in the summer and I just liked what I heard," Johnston said. "He really wants to win and seems like he's really into developing players and moving them to the next level."

The 6'0", 190-pound blue-liner played in four games for the Texas Stars of the AHL near the end of the 2012-13 regular season. He produced one assist and a +2 rating during that time.

A native of Sudbury, Ont., Johnston played collegiately at Dalhousie University of the AUS from 2009-13. In his four- years with the Tigers, he appeared in 106 games and notched 46 points on 11 goals and 35 assists. In 2007-08, Johnston played in four games with Cornell University of the ECAC, producing one goal.

The left-handed shooting defenseman played one season of Juniors with the Camrose Kodiaks of the AJHL in 2008-09.

There, he played in 52 games, amassing 36 points on nine goals and 27 assists.
