ROANOKE, VA - Phil Bronner had three assists, Darius Cole netted two goals and the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs blew out the Huntsville Havoc, 6-2, Friday night at Berglund Center. Roanoke's win was its fifth in a row.

With the score tied 2-2 nearly halfway through the second period, the Dawgs turned it on. While Cam Bakker was working hard in the corner, he drew a delayed holding call against Huntsville. The Dawgs would work the puck to Matt Beer who blasted a shot past Mike DeLaVergne to give Roanoke the lead.

Later in second period, Steve Mele sprung Daniel Vernace and Bronner in on a 2-on-1. Vernace and Bronner played tic-tac-toe and Vernace fired a shot past DeLaVergne to give the Dawgs a 4-2 advantage.

Roanoke would add some insurance goals in the third. Skating into the attacking zone, Eric Witzel threw a puck to the net looking to create a chance. Cole was crashing the net and picked up the loose rebound to give the Dawgs a 5-2 lead. Working on the power play later in the period, Mele found Riley Spraggs cutting through the slot. He fed Spraggs who whipped a shot past DeLaVergne to seal a 6-2 victory.

The Dawgs extended their franchise-best winning streak to five games with the win.

Roanoke scored the game's first goal while working on the power play. Joe Sova blasted a shot from the point that was blocked but Colin Murray gathered the rebound and roofed it to make the score, 1-0.

Later in the period, the Dawgs struck again on Cole's first of the game. He was sprung for a breakaway and ripped a wrist shot past DeLaVergne to push the advantage to 2-0.

The Havoc evened the score with two goals in the span of just over a minute and a half early in the second. Shawn Bates notched a shorthanded goal and Peter Sikalis found the back of the net with a shot from the slot that tied things at two.

Six Rail Yard Dawgs registered multi-point performances and Brad Barone made 23 saves to earn the win in net.

The Rail Yard Dawgs improved to 16-19-3 with the win while Huntsville fell to 22-13-4. Roanoke is back in action on Saturday for another match against the Huntsville Havoc. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 PM at Berglund Center.
