Greensboro Generals News Release

GREENSBORO, NC - The Roanoke Express turned the tide on the Greensboro Generals and earned a 3-1 road victory at the Greensboro Coliseum. The best-of-five series now moves to the Roanoke Civic Center tomorrow night at 7:35 tied at 1-1.

Roanoke scored in the first period when Shawn Limpright put the Express up 1-0 at the 8:13 mark. The Express extended the lead in the second period on a Chad Mazurak break-away goal as he emerged from the penalty box.

Trailing 2-0 going into the third period, Greensboro was searching for a momentum shift. The Generals peppered Roanoke netminder Evan Lindsay with 26 shots on goal in the third, and 51 total for the game. Following an insurance goal by the Express’ Doug Schueller at the 6:50 mark, Greensboro finally ended Evan Lindsay’s shutout bid. Sam Ftorek blasted a slap shot past Lindsay on the power play with 10:10 to go in the game, cutting the deficit to 3-1. Greensboro continued to pressure the net, but they could get no closer

The Express win forces a game four in the best-of-five series. That potentially series-deciding contest will be at the Roanoke Civic Center on Tuesday night at 7:05. Should a game five be necessary, it will be played on Wednesday, April 9 at 8:30 at the Triangle SportsPlex in Hillsborough, NC. That game, held 40 east of Greensboro, would be a home game for the Generals. All games in the series can be heard live on WPET 950AM and www.greensborogenerals.com.
