Generals Win 3-2, Look to Close out Express

GREENSBORO, NC - The Greensboro Generals are known for being the "Cardiac Kids" of the ECHL, and this was even more true following a 3-2 victory over the Roanoke Express at the Roanoke Civic Center Saturday night.

Trailing 2-1 after the second period, Greensboro scored two goals ending an Express 29-0-2 streak when leading after two periods that dated the entire season. The game-tying goal came just 1:06 into the period when Bryan Richardson scored on a wrist shot. The Generals Pete Gardiner won the game when scoring his first goal on his former team, The game-winner came on a passing play as Mike Bayrack feeding the puck into the slot to Rod Aldoff, who in turn made a backdoor pass to Gardiner awaiting at the top of the crease.

Greensboro preserved the victory, as netminder Daniel Berthiaume made a fabulous stick save on Roanoke's leading scorer Jason Jaffray with 15 seconds remaining in the game. Greensboro leads the best-of-five series 2-1, with the opportunity to close out the Express on Tuesday night at the Roanoke Civic Center.
