
RoadRunners Sweep Scorpions Behind 10-4 Win

ST. GEORGE, UTAH -The GBL Southern Division leading St. George RoadRunners completed a four-game sweep of the visiting Yuma Scorpions on Thursday with a 10-4 triumph.
St. George (21-11) improved to 10 games above .500, the highest point above the break even mark in the club's franchise history.
The offense again came to play, but the story of the night was the second consecutive quality start from southpaw Luis Gonzalez. He began the game retiring the first 11 he faced and did not allow a base hit until the fifth inning. Gonzalez scattered two runs on four hits in seven innings while striking out eight to earn his fourth victory (4-3).
LF Ruddy Yan once again led the RoadRunners with three hits and three runs batted in. Yosvany Almario also knocked in three on two hits and scored a pair. Ryan Stevenson and Cody Nowlin each added two hits. The team finished the night with 11 hits overall.
Yuma starter Javier Ortiz received the loss getting tagged for seven runs in four innings (0-3). Reynaldo Rodriguez was the only Scorpion with two hits. Adolfo Gomez knocked in two late RBIs. Yuma was limited to six hits.
The RoadRunners have the next four nights off. St. George returns to action Tuesday night, June 30 for the first of four games with the Calgary Vipers. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 7:05pm.
