San Ramon, CA June 22, 2009: The Golden Baseball League announced today that Chico Outlaws Pitcher Evan White and St. George Roadrunners 1B A.J. Valentine have been named GBL Players of the Week for the fourth week of the 2009 season for games played between June 15th and June 21st.

White, 26, 6-0, 190, right-handed pitcher, went undrafted after a fine collegiate career at New Mexico Highlands University and joined the Yuma Scorpions of the Golden Baseball League in 2007. The northern California native from the town of Red Bluff had two fine seasons for Yuma before being traded in a blockbuster off-season deal to the Chico Outlaws and close to his home. He posted a record of 14-7 over two seasons in Yuma and was a GBL All-Star in 2008 for the Scorpions. White currently leads the GBL in wins this season with 4 for the Outlaws, fueled by his performance last week when he won two games as he pitched 14 and 2/3 innings, giving up only 4 earned runs and striking out 11 as he posted an E.R.A. of 2.45 for the week. His performances were key in Chico's move to within one game of the North Division leading Calgary Vipers.

Valentine, 26, 6-6, 220 went undrafted out of Cal State Stanislaus after putting up extraordinary power numbers. He has been a prolific slugger in the GBL for two years as he was signed by the Yuma Scorpions part way through the 2007 and hit 22 home runs and drove in 106 runs in 129 games in Yuma over the last two seasons. Joining St. George this year, his power numbers continue to climb and his batting average has soared as well. He currently leads the GBL in RBIs and is second in home runs. During last weeks games, that saw the Roadrunners solidify their hold on first place in the South Division, he hit for a .379 average and had a league leading 11 RBIs.
