Edinburg Roadrunners News Release
EDINBURG, Texas--- The Edinburg Roadrunners were held to two hits by the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings pitching staff as they fell 5-0 Tuesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Geovany Reyes (1-0) pitched six innings of scoreless baseball while walking just one and striking out two.
The game remained scoreless until the top of the fifth when Fidel Hernandez hit a two-run triple to the right field corner that drove in Francisco Santana and Leujum Baroso. Miguel Alfonso then hit an RBI infield single that allowed Hernandez to score to make it 3-0.
That is all Dave Dinelli (0-1) would allow after pitching six innings and allowing three runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.
The WhiteWings (3-4) added two more in the top of the ninth on a two-run single by Alfonso that extended their lead 5-0.
Celson Polanco pitched a scoreless seventh, eighth, and ninth innings to keep the Roadrunners (3-4) off the scoreboard giving RGV the 5-0 victory.
The Roadrunners and WhiteWings will wrap up their four-game series Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Kirk Wetmore (0-1) is expected to pitch for Edinburg with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Tickets are still available for Wednesday night's series finale and can be purchased by call the Edinburg front office at 956-380-4446 or by visiting www.etix.com.
