
Roadrunners Snap Losing Streak Behind Haines

ROBSTOWN, TEXAS ---- The Edinburg Roadrunners snapped their three game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the Coastal Bend Thunder Tuesday night at Fairgrounds Field.
Tim Haines (8-4) picked up his eighth win of the season after he allowed one run while scattering six hits and striking out four in eight innings of work.
All the runs of the game came in the fourth inning. The Roadrunners (37-30) got on the board first in the top of the fourth with a two-run single by Hunter Owen that drove in Robert Matlock and Sergio Guerrero giving Edinburg the 2-0 lead.
Coastal Bend (30-36) responded in the bottom half of the fourth with a run of their own. Kevin Butler hit an RBI infield single with the bases loaded that allowed Manny Mejia to score the only run of the game for the Thunder making the score 2-1.
Coastal Bend's starter Frank James (3-5) picked up the loss after he pitched a complete game and allowed just two runs while scattering six hits and striking out seven.
Kelly Casares pitched a scoreless ninth for his 12th save of the season ending the game giving Edinburg the 2-1 victory.
The Roadrunners and Thunder will play the final game of this four-game series Wednesday night at Fairgrounds Field. Miguel Martinez (6-4) is expected to pitch the finale for Edinburg.
