Colts Take the First Three From the Dillas

San Angelo, Texas--- The Colts (44-23) did not slug the baseball Thursday Night against Amarillo (36-30), but managed to defeat the Dillas 3-2. San Angelo goes for the sweep tomorrow before venturing on an eight game road trip.

Dillas short stop led off the second inning with a round tripper to left-center, his first homer as a Dilla gave Amarillo a 1-0 advantage.

The Colts matched Monday nights second inning production with three runs. Selwyn Langaigne doubled to begin the inning. An error from third baseman Andrew Wong planted Jason Landreth at first base and Langaigne at second. John Anderson's first at-bat of the 2009 season resulted in an RBI single scoring Langaigne, tying the game at one. Hank Lanto and Hunter Jobes also collected RBI singles; San Angelo held a 3-1 lead.

Amarillo subtracted the Colts lead in the third inning. With two outs in the frame, Trent Lockwood doubled. He was pushed home from an RBI single from Reyes, Dillas faced a one-run deficit.

Amarillo faced that same deficit in the top of the ninth inning. Willie James and Stantrel Smith singled, a ground out by Andrew Wong placed the tying and go-ahead run at second and third. Colts reliever Jameson Maj coaxed Justin Wenger into a fly-out to right-center ending the Dillas attempted comeback. The 3-2 victory moves the Colts win-streak to 3 games. San Angelo will go for the sweep against Amarillo tomorrow.

Jacob Ramos (3-0) nabbed his first win as a starter going five innings, allowing two runs, collecting two strikeouts. Doug Brandt worked two scoreless innings; Tom Martin added a scoreless inning. Jameson Maj pitched a two-hit ninth inning, preserving his fourth save.

San Angelo and Amarillo will continue their four game series today at Foster Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm, gates will open at 6:05.Wednesday's promotion will be Sure Win Wednesday sponsored by Sherman Williams. The Kemps pre-game show will begin at 6:50 pm.
