RoadRunners Shoot Past Stockton 2-1

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Liam Lindstrom scored the go-ahead and game-winning goal in the fifth round of the shootout to lift the Phoenix RoadRunners to a 2-1 victory over the Stockton Thunder before 3,135 at US Airways Center in ECHL action Tuesday.

Alexandre Rouleau gave the RoadRunners (4-5-0) a 1-0 lead at 8:22 of the second period. Brett Smith skating down the slot dropped the puck off to Rouleau at the right-wing circle and Rouleau fired a nifty backhand shot past Stockton goaltender Cam Ellsworth to upper left corner of the net.

Stockton (5-0-1) would tie the game with less than a minute remaining in regulation. Brendon Hodge tried to center the puck from behind the net, but it deflected off a RoadRunner skate and slipped past Phoenix goaltender Josh Tordjman at 19:14. Nathan Martz was credited with the unassisted goal.

After a scoreless overtime, Justin Aikins and Lindstrom scored in the shootout for Phoenix will Tim Sestito collected Stockton's lone shootout goal.

The RoadRunners out-shot Stockton 40-37. Tordjman stopped 36 shots to improve to 3-3 on the season. The RoadRunners went 0-11 on the power play while Stockton was 0-6 with the man advantage.

Notes: Rouleau's goal was the RoadRunners first even strength goal since October 24...Phoenix was not whistled for a penalty the entire second period...Rookie forward Jeff Kyrzakos was a healthy scratch.
