
Roadrunners Quieted by Colts

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners managed one run against the San Angelo Colts pitching staff after a 6-1 loss Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
The Roadrunners (34-52) grabbed the early lead in the bottom of the fourth against Chandler Barnard. With two outs in the inning, Gabe Memmert hit an RBI single to center field that allowed R.J. Harris to score from second making it 1-0.
The Colts (52-33) responded in the top of the fifth. With two outs, Matt Redding reached after being hit by a pitch. Mark Ramos then followed with a single to right field that allowed Redding to move to third. Former Roadrunner C.J. Beatty then hit an RBI single to right field scoring Redding from third. A wild pitch then allowed Ramos to score from third giving San Angelo the 2-1 lead.
The score remained the same until the top of the ninth when the Colts batted around in the inning and scored four runs on four hits extending their lead 6-1.
Jon Huizinga pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the ball game and giving San Angelo the 6-1 victory.
Barnard (12-2) picked up his league leading 12th win of the season after allowing one run on three hits in five innings pitched.
The Roadrunners and Colts will play the second game of their series Friday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Ryan Falcon (3-0) is expected to face Brian Henschel (7-7) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
