August 25, 2011 - North American League (NAmL)
Edmonton Capitals News Release

Bragging rights going into playoffs and the North Division regular season title are both on the line Thursday through Sunday at TELUS Field as the Capitals and provincial rival Calgary Vipers battle it out in a five-game series.

The Alberta squads are already guaranteed to play each other in the North American League North Division Championship Series, which starts on Tuesday in Edmonton, but home-field advantage is still up for grabs in the final series of the regular season. The Caps host the Vipers Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., with a season finale double-header scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m.

THIRSTY THURSDAY

Thursday's series opener is the final Thirsty Thursday of the regular season, presented by Hudsons Canadian Tap House, 100.3 The Bear and 104.9 Virgin Radio, featuring beer on sale for $3.

FIREWORKS FRIDAY & MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT

Friday's game will be a tribute to the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces as the Caps celebrate Military Appreciation Night. The Caps will wear commemorative camouflage jerseys that will be autographed and auctioned off after the game, with proceeds going to the Soldier On program, which improves the quality of life of injured or ill Canadian Forces personnel and former personnel.

There will also be a unique ceremonial first pitch that involves soldiers rappelling down the 20-foot centre field wall, and it's also the final Fireworks Friday of the regular season presented by 92.5 JOE FM. There will be a spectacular fireworks display shortly after the final out, and then the military jersey auction will be held.

OIL KINGS NIGHT

Saturday's game provides a segway right into the upcoming hockey season, as it's Oil Kings Night at the ballpark. The first 500 fans at the game will receive a bobblehead of Oil Kings forward and 2011 New York Rangers draft pick Michael St. Croix, who will also be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

FAMILY PACK SUNDAY & FAN APPRECIATION DAY

Sunday's season finale is the final regular season edition of Family Pack Sunday presented by Dental Choice and 630 CHED, as fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four Pepsi for $52. It's also Canadian Tire Fan Appreciation Day, with tons of prizes up for grabs, highlighted by a $250 Canadian Tire gift certificate.
