EDINBURG, TEXAS ---- Osiel Flores hit a walk-off single to lift the Edinburg Roadrunners past the Amarillo Dillas 2-1 Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Danny Rondon (4-0) picked up his fourth win of the season after he pitched a complete game allowing one run while scattering six hits and striking out one.
The Dillas got on the board against Rondon in the top of the second when Anthony Bennett hit an RBI groundout that allowed Stantrel Smith to score for a 1-0 lead.
Carlos Hereaud started the comeback in the bottom of the ninth with a leadoff triple to deep left field against Dillas starter Dustin Taylor. Bryon Smith followed with a walk putting runners at the corners for Vincent Blue who hit an RBI double to left center field that allowed Hereaud to score to tie things at one. After an intentional walk to Eric Gonzalez to load the bases, Flores hit a walk-off single that drove in Smith from third giving the Roadrunners the 2-1 victory.
The Roadrunners and Dillas will play the third game of this four-game series Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Eric Montoya (3-1) is expected to face Justin Phillips (1-2) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
