Kingsport Road Warriors News Release
BRISTOL, VA - Kingsport did something most people in the Appalachian League didn't think would happen the remainder of the season.
To the pleasure of the fans in Bristol, the Road Warriors pulled together a new roster and a new coaching staff within a 48-hour span.
Despite the quick turnaround, Kingsport led Bristol, 5-4, midway through but ultimately fell at Boyce Cox Field.
The Road Warriors (12-20) grabbed their first lead after Ben Berenda's two-run double in the fifth. Shortstop Logan Slemp plated a tally in both the second and fourth frames with a couple of singles. Third baseman Logen Sutton tallied a team-high three hits in his debut.
With Kingsport trailing, the game went into a rain delay in the middle of the eighth. After a 30-minute stoppage, the game was ruled final and Bristol (18-14) was credited with the victory.
Kingsport opens a two-game set against the Elizabethton River Riders. The series opener begins 7 p.m. Saturday with the concluding contest 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
