Road Warriors Announce Transactions

Greenville, SC: Today the Road Warriors announced they have signed forwards Matt Lowry and Steve Mele. Lowry has signed a contract with the team and Mele has signed an Amateur Tryout Agreement. In separate transactions the Road Warriors have waived forwards Tyler Fernandez and Jon Higgins.

Lowry, 25, comes to Greenville after finishing his season at the University of Manitoba. The Neepawa, Manitoba native was second on the team in goals with 12. In his second year, Lowry also collected nine assists and totaled 16 penalty minutes in 28 games played. Lowry split one season between the Elmira Jackals and the Binghamton Senators prior to college. The majority of his time was spent with the Jackals where he scored 12 goals and tallied 14 assists in 56 games played.

Mele, 23, signs with the Road Warriors out of American International College. The senior completed his final year with six goals and six assists in 34 games played. Last season was the best statistical season for Mele. In 37 games played, the forward scored 10 goals and added 11 assists ranking second on the team in goals and fourth in points. Mele was born in Bronx, New York.

"Matt has great character and will help the team in all three zones," Head Coach Dean Stork commented. "Steve is a great skater and is responsible in the defensive zone. Both players add extra ambition that will help us in the final three weeks of the regular season."
