Tonight's Matchup: The San Francisco Bulls (22-34-1-6) head on the road to take on their closest in-state rival the Stockton Thunder (32-24-5-4), tonight, at Stockton Arena. This is the 11th of 13 meetings between the two clubs this season, the final in Stockton. The Bulls lead in the season series 5-4-0-1.
This past Sunday, San Francisco got back in the win column with a dominating 4-1 victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers. Las Vegas got on the board first seven minutes into the first period before the Bulls stormed back with four unanswered goals. Christian Ouellet, Peter Sivak, Tristan King, and Yanni Gourde all scored for San Francisco. Gourde (2), Sivak, Nick Walsh, Bryan Cameron, Dean Ouellet, and C. Ouellet picked up assists. San Francisco had the edge in shots 33-17.
Gourde chipped in three more points on Sunday, giving him 10 in eight games with the Bulls. On Monday it was announced that, thanks to his strong play, he had been recalled back to the Worcester Sharks of the AHL. It was also announced Monday that the Bulls would be getting back some reinforcements. Forward Tommy Grant has been reassigned to the Bulls from Worcester by the San Jose Sharks. In 48 games this season in the AHL he has 21 points (10g, 11a).
Over the weekend Jordan Morrison registered his 200th career ECHL point. Morrison has been a consistent presence in the Bulls lineup this season, and has played in all but one of the teams' games. On the year he has 36 points (15g, 21a).
The Stockton Thunder are in fourth place in the Western Conference with 73 points, 12 points behind the Idaho Steelheads and six points ahead of the Las Vegas Wranglers. San Francisco holds the last playoff spot, eighth place in the Western Conference with 51 points. They are eight points behind the Utah Grizzlies and eight points up on the Bakersfield Condors. The Bulls magic number to clinch a playoff spot is nine points.
This Saturday, March 16, San Francisco returns home to face off with the Utah Grizzlies. Join the Bulls and celebrate St. Patrick's Day! The first 2,000 fans 21 and older receive a Bulls St. Patrick's Day hat, courtesy of Miller Lite. Plus, on Sunday the Bulls host Star Wars Day to benefit Kristi Yamaguchi's Always Dream Foundation.
