ROSEMONT, Ill. - Victor Roache drove in four RBI to back a solid start by Austin Wright and the Chicago Dogs cruised past the St. Paul Saints, 8-4, on Friday night at Impact Field.

Wright (W, 5-5) stifled the Saints over six strong innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits while racking up four strikeouts.

The Dogs grabbed a 1-0 lead when Gustavo Pierre reached on an error by Saints shortstop Chris Baker, allowing Victor Roache to score.

Chicago continued its offensive barrage with a five-spot in the third. After David Olmedo-Barrera was hit by a pitch, Jordan Dean ripped an RBI double off of the center field wall and make it 2-0. On the next at-bat, Trey Vavra sent Dean home with an RBI single to push the Dogs' lead to three.

Two batters later, Victor Roache mashed a three-run bomb over the left-center fence to extend the Dogs' lead to 6-0.

The Saints got on the board in the fourth with a Jhonatan Solano RBI single, making it 6-1.

St. Paul continued to chip away in the seventh, as Michael Lang hit a two-run homer off of Carlos Zambrano to get within three. Two more runners reached before Casey Crosby entered the game and induced two quick putouts to end the Saints' threat.

The Dogs responded with two more runs in the seventh. With two outs in the frame, Dean reached on an error by Saints second baseman Blake Schmit. Vavra then smacked a double to score Dean. Two batters later, Roache made it 8-3 when he singled home Vavra for his fourth RBI of the night.

In the eighth, Dan Motl reached on an error by Pierre to plate another Saints run, bringing them within 8-4.

Luke Wilkins pitched a perfect ninth to secure the win for Chicago.

LHP D.J. Snelten will get the start tomorrow evening with first pitch set for 7:05 PM.
