Rockford Rivets News Release
Mequon, Wis. - The Rockford Rivets (6-5) were never able to find their groove in a 10-0 loss to the Lakeshore Chinooks on Friday night at Kapco Park. The Chinooks scored in a myriad of ways, but the biggest push was a four-run fifth inning to put Lakeshore up 7-0.
Lakeshore scored in the fifth inning with an RBI single, followed by an RBI triple for the Chinooks, before first baseman Connor Christman knocked a two-run shot over the left-field fence to cap off a tough bottom of the fifth for Rivets' reliever JT Baksha.
Rockford had trouble with their control all night in the field and on the mound. The four different Rivets' pitchers that took the mound had a total of ten walks, while the Rockford defense accumulated five errors.
"Making five errors is nothing to write home about," said Rivets' Manager Brian Smith, "We didn't deserve to win that game from the second inning on and it proved to it."
The Rivets also struggled at the plate and were shut out for the first time this season. Pat Loeffler, Joey Butler, Brock Mathis, and Brock Martin were the only Rivets to snag hits against the Chinooks' pitching staff.
Lakeshore will come to Rivets Stadium tomorrow for the second game of the home-and-home series between the Rivets and the Chinooks. It is also First Responders Night at Rivets Stadium and the game will be followed by a firework show.
Tickets for the Rockford Rivets are available for purchase, including our 5-Game Pack which now costs only $60. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Rivets' Ticket Office at (815) 240-4159.
