RIVERSHARKS WIN 9-4 OVER PATRIOTS IN 12 INNINGS

Bridgewater, NJ- The Camden Riversharks defeated the Somerset Patriots 9-4 in 12 innings at Commerce Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.

Camden broke a 4-4 tie with five runs in the top of the 12th inning. Catcher Ben Davis singled, first baseman Angel Pena doubled, and third baseman Craig Paquette drew a walk to load the bases. Center fielder Justin Singleton followed with a two-run double. Shortstop Milko Jaramillo then drove home Paquette with an RBI double. Second baseman Matt DeMarco singled home Singleton and the final run came home on an RBI groundout off the bat of left fielder Denny Abreu for the 9-4 final score.

The Riversharks took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run by Abreu (4) to lead off the game.

Somerset tied up the game in the bottom of the second inning on a solo home run by third baseman Jeff Nettles (13) to make it a 1-1 game. The homer was Nettles' league leading 13th home run and 35th RBI of the season.

Camden regained the lead with three runs in the top of the third inning. Abreu and designated hitter Dwight Maness singled and both scored on a three-run home run by right fielder LJ Biernbaum (6) to make the score 4-1.

The Patriots bottom of the seventh inning started with two singles by centerfielder Mike Lockwood and Nettles. Leftfielder Jason Romano reached on a walk to load the bases. Catcher Travis Anderson drew a bases loaded walk that brought in the run to make the score 4-2.

In the bottom of the eighth, Patriots second basemen Danny Garcia singled and stole two bases. Designated hitter Josh Pressley was credited with an RBI on an error by the first basemen as Garcia scored making the score 4-3.

Somerset again tied up the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. Anderson was hit by a pitch and was pitch run for by Patrick Boran. Boran stole second and reached third on an error. Right fielder Elliot Ayala singled to score Boran, which made the game 4-4.

Camden reliever Mark Ion (4-0) picked up the win and Patriots reliever Sam Marsonek (2-3) suffered the loss.

The Somerset Patriots 10th Anniversary Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Saturday night with a 7:05 pm game against the Camden Riversharks. Saturday's game includes a Post Game Fireworks Extravaganza presented by Citigroup Private Banking.
