Lancaster Stormers News Release
Bo Hart went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI, and Steve Van Note banged out three doubles as Lancaster notched its first road win of the season, 10-4, Friday evening at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark.
Lancaster had been 0-9 on the road this season, including a three-game sweep at the hands of the Newark Bears just two weekends ago.
With the score tied, 1-1, entering the fourth inning, Lance Burkhart drew a one-out walk from Jeriome Robertson (1-1) and advanced to third as Van Note doubled to the gap in right center. Dominick Ambrosini gave the Barnstormers the lead with an RBI single to right. Hart then hit a smash down the third base line which was stopped by Corey Smith. The Newark third baseman fired to the late, but Van Note slid behind John Pachot's tag for a 3-1 lead. Chris Van Rossum forced Hart at second, but Mike Woods and Danny Gonzalez drew consecutive walks for a 4-1 lead. Jutt Hileman capped the inning with a two-run single to left.
Lancaster added three more in the fifth on a leadoff homer by Burkhart and a two-run jack by Hart.
The Barnstormers tried to push Clayton Andrews (1-1) through the sixth inning, but the left-hander fell two outs short. He allowed a double to Victor Rodriguez leading off the inning and, with one out, walked Joe Jiannetti. John Pachot whacked a pitch back up the middle which was slowed down by Andrews, leaving Gonzalez to race in. The shortstop could not latch on to the ball, and the infield single loaded the bases. Josh Arteaga singled home one run with a soft liner to center, chasing Andrews. Jason Norderum was greeted by an RBI single to right by Keith Reed, cutting the lead to 9-3, and the left-hander walked Javier Colina with two outs as Newark pulled within five. Eric Ackerman was brought into the game to face Jose Herrera. The Newark right fielder hit a one-hop smash off Ackerman's glove, but the lefty was able to chase it down and throw out Herrera to end the inning.
Newark never again threatened against Ackerman, Ross Peeples and Derrick DePriest.
