York Revolution News Release

Through seven innings, the York Revolution were rolling toward a fifth consecutive win and their second sweep of the season, but in stunning fashion the Camden Riversharks ripped the series finale away, scoring seven times in the eighth inning en route to a 7-5 victory at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Thursday evening. The Revs, who have still won 11 of their last 15 games, will continue their homestand on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. when the Long Island Ducks come to town to open a weekend series.

York starter Shawn Hill made things look easy on the mound, tossing scoreless ball for the fourth time in four starts. He allowed just three hits, walked only one, and struck out five in a season-best seven innings on Thursday evening, and was in line for his second win. He has not allowed a run in 21.2 innings over his four starts, allowing just 11 hits during that time.

The Revs built a 4-0 lead, scoring four times in the third. Ramon Castro lined an RBI double to left, and Chris Nowak followed with a two-run double to the gap in left-center. Nowak advanced to third on a deep fly out to right by Michael Hernandez, and scored on a wild pitch capping the big inning.

Camden starter Ricky Brooks allowed no further runs, lasting six innings in a no-decision.

The Sharks sent 13 batters to the plate in the decisive eighth inning, snapping a 15-inning scoreless streak for Revolution pitchers. Lloyd Turner broke up the shutout with a two-run single lined off Castro's glove at third and into shallow left. Marquez Smith followed with an RBI single to left, cutting it to a one-run game. The Revs missed a chance at what would have been an important second out, as Turner took third on the throw home, and was ruled safe after an apparent missed tag. Brian Burgamy followed with a game-tying single on a grounder into left. Jake Eigsti later drew a bases loaded walk to push home the go-ahead run. Steve Doetsch's RBI single and Chris Caves' bases loaded walk provided a pair of insurance runs before the dust settled.

Travis Scott nailed a line drive homer to right in the bottom of the ninth, but the Revs could draw no closer.

Reliever Spencer Steedley (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless seventh in his debut performance for the Riversharks.

Stephen Penney (1-1) suffered his first loss, charged with five of the runs in the eighth. He had allowed just one earned run in his previous 12 innings, and none in his previous seven innings.

John Lujan earned his eighth save, retiring the other three batters he faced in the ninth, aside from Scott's homer.

Castro led the Revs' offense with a 3-for-4 game including a pair of doubles.

Burgamy went 3-for-5 for the Riversharks.
