(Central Islip, N.Y. - June 7, 2012) - After the Bridgeport Bluefish (19-21) tied the game in the ninth on a wild pitch, Long Island Ducks (24-16) hitter Shawn Williams served a walkoff solo shot to left to give the home team a series victory on Thursday by a score of 6-5 at Bethpage Ballpark.

Luis Rodriguez continued his hot hitting by send a solo shot to leftcenter in the second inning. His third of the year and his second of the series accounted for his first of two hits on the night. The catcher also drove in two. Brock Peterson also performed well as the first baseman finished one hit shy of the cycle and had three hits on the night. He smacked his seventh homer in his last eight games with a solo blast to left in the eighth. Peterson has a shot in each of the last four contests. Bridgeport was ahead by a score of 3-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth before Long Island pushed three runners across in the inning. The main drive was a double by Reid Gorecki bringing in the tying and go-ahead runs. The Ducks outfielder finished with three hits and two doubles. Dan Lyons drove in two runs including an RBI single to leftcenter to give the Ducks a 5-3 lead at the time.

Bluefish pitcher Matt Pike (1-3) suffered the loss as he allowed the solo shot by Williams without retiring a hitter. Starter, Isaac Hess, worked five-and-a-third innings and allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out a batter. Joe Bateman, Jonah Bayliss, and Rommie Lewis combined to throw two-and-two-thirds frames of one run, four hit, four walk, and one strikeout baseball.

Jon Meloan (3-0) gave up the lead in the ninth but picked up the victory for the Ducks. He allowed one run on a hit and two walks while striking out a batter. Long Island starter Randy Keisler completed seven-and-a-third frames for the winning team and gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk while fanning six.
